HOW TO | Fave Lisa Eldridge makeup tutorials

Lisa Eldridge is a seriously lovely lady with incredible makeup tutorials for every look imaginable. I've been watching her videos since she started and regularly post some of my favorites of her videos here. Sorry if I'm repeating myself. Can't help it. I always go back to her tutorials.

Since no-makeup makeup has been my M.O. of late but I do love a hint of color, I love her chic and simple 5-minute makeup look and this (soon to be my go-to makeup for a night out) party look, which is just a bit more glamorous than daytime no-makeup makeup but still not in-your-face.

The first look in her one lipstick many different ways is exactly what I do with some of my more vibrant lipsticks (and even tinted balms) during the day (love doing this (putting on cheeks and lips) with Burt's Bees tined balms in Rose and Red Dahlia).

Her acne cover-up tutorial is incredible. The before and after look like two different people.

One the theme of using one color all-over, she does a great video on how to work the color into the eye area as well... and love the dusty rose/mauve used.

TREND MILL | Lip tattoos

WE'RE ALL about tattoos nowadays, huh? Hand puppet tattoos, nail tattoos, faux necklace tattoos. CHANEL, Minx, etc... So I suppose it wasn't long before we came to lip tattoos, was it? After all, there really aren't many other surfaces on the face you can tat it up in a stylish manner, is there? Lace-patterened cheeks would look a bit meh and eyelids crease too much.

Enter Violent Lips, the first (as far as I'm aware) lip tattoo brand. Within each packet are three appliques and they come in everything from dots to animal print, fishnet, rainbow and glitter.

They're currently offering free shipping and packets of three tattoos cost between $14.95 and $15.95.

We predict Rhianna or Gaga will be in a set of these before too long.

Our favourites? The Red Glitteratti and Pink Snake.

TRIED AND TESTED | Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick

What > Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick from luxe LA mineral brand Hourglass in Nocturnal

True color > Lighter (in weight) than rendered online. A medium-deep berry mauve. Cool undertones. Gorgeous. Works day and night.

Texture > Super creamy with good pigment and just a hint of sheen on the finish.

Staying power > Last through an entire cup of coffee. Would need re-application during the day (although not at the frequency of a gloss or less-pigmented lipstick) because of the creamy texture.

Application technique > Apply once, blot well, and apply second coat by dabbing it on, fixing any errors or smudging out a bit with finger. No liner.

Wear > Super smooth. Lips feel moisturized, plumps. No dryness or caking, no tugging on the lip when applied.

**********

Plus > Texture, staying power for a cream lipstick, great pigment, luxuriously heavy metal case, they're refillable, perfume free.

Minus > Can't find full ingredient list online. Wouldn't call it 'light as air' as suggested on their site, but certainly not heavy, nor waxy.

Conclusion > A gorgeous cream lippie in brilliantly pigmented shades that feels more like Nuxe Reve de Miel than a lipstick.
