Hello there.

It's nice to meet you.

I'm Jessica.

Once upon a time, I wrote a lot on this blog.

Now, not so much. But I don't have the b*lls to totally delete it from the internet just yet. So, here it remains, collecting dust.

So if you've ended up here, hello and welcome. I still tweet from time to time and pin (see above) and if you want to see what I do, click on the giant box below that says VIEW MY WORK.

TTFN, y'all.

TRAVEL TALES | May in New York Part II

We left you at The Summit Bar last night, did we? Well... RISE AND SHINE, beautiful! Day 2 of your 48 hours in New York and it's time for a session of energizing yoga at The Standard (a snip at $20). The hotel's just introduced their popular Miami yoga program to the Big Apple so you can practice with expert instructors overlooking the Hudson River. All comers welcome! And you'll need to limber up before the scrum that is the notorious, gilded beauty halls of New York.

The Bs (Henri Bendel, Barney's, Bergdorf Goodman) are like music to beauty-binging ears... Subterranean warrens are packed with the skincare secrets of the ladies who lunch. No beauty pilgrimage to New York would be complete with out wander and a gander at (and maybe take away) Ellis FaasTammy FenderTrish McEvoyTracie MartynEdward Bess and the limited edition Narciso Rodriguez palette.

And what would a trip to the US (unless you're coming from La France) be without a stop at Sephora for some private label goodness, Hourglass Cosmetics, Tarina Tarantino, Tokidoki, Temptu and the very cool Kate Von D solid perfume ring... or a nip into CVS and Duane Reade for cheapie chemist beauty booty? If you make it out of the scrum of blood-thirsty counter girls alive, you'll be in need of sustenance and quick. But where to? Surely not for fast food.

You'll need some real nourishment before you jump your next beauty hurdle so head to Norma Kamali's Wellness Cafe for a host of healthy delights, like Organic Avenue fresh-pressed juices. Or go a bit more low brow (and utterly local) and opt for a smoothie at Papaya King. OR.... have a haute raw lunch at Pure Food & Wine.

That should restore the mental and physical fortitude needed to make it to your next beauty destination -- the spa. In this case, perhaps, medi-green Spa Merge under the care of Hiroko's magical hands or the lush spa at The Carlyle, dahhhling. Wouldn't trust my skin to anyone else (at least not on this trip)!

Post-extractions (and subsequent sublime Endorphin rush) nip downtown to snoop the shelves at the Boho (and Soho) chic beauty shops below 14th. C.O. Bigelow, Aedes de Venustas, Georgia, Bath Junkie, The Laundress, The New London Pharmacy and Le Labo will finish filling your beauty coffers... well, that is unless you need to save space for your trip over the bridge to Woodley and Bunny and Miomia (where you should get matte KO Knockout nail varnish) in Brooklyn, baby.

Knackered? Have a pint and a game of pool at the Brooklyn Social Club on Smith Street before decamping back to the island for some sushi and some well-earned beauty sleep.
